Kenya Airways, the national carrier of Kenya, has announced special Earlybird Fares for travel from Australia to almost 50 cities in Africa and the Middle East, via Bangkok or Hong Kong.
The Economy Class return fares, divided into two travel zones, start at A$1782 (including taxes) for flights to the airline’s main hub, the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, plus Mombasa, Kenya, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The airline also offers Earlybird deals to another 46 African or Middle Eastern cities in fare Zone 2, from AUD $2086 (including taxes). These cities include Cairo, Egypt; Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar, Tanzania; Dakar, Senegal; Khartoum, Sudan; Johannesburg, South Africa; Dubai, Mauritius and Seychelles.
Although Kenya Airways does not operate its flights to Australia, it code shares on daily Qantas flights from Sydney to Bangkok, and also offers combination fares with Thai Airways, via Bangkok, and Cathay Pacific, via Hong Kong. From Asia, Kenya Airways operates its own daily services to Nairobi.
All of the new fares, available for sale until 30 November, 2011, are valid for departures between 01 February and 30 June, 2012.
The prices listed above are based on joint fares by Kenya Airlines and Thai Airways.
Taxes included in these fares above are correct at 11 October, 2011, but are subject to change, depending upon exchange rate fluctuations and the routes and dates travelled. Fuel and insurance surcharges will be included in fare calculations when quoted in GDS systems, and will be commissionable to travel agents at seven per cent.
A member of the global Skyteam Airlines Alliance, Kenya Airlines operates a fleet of 34 aircraft to 56 destinations in Africa, and beyond to the Middle East, Europe, China, India and Thailand, and has plans to continue expanding its network.
Its growing fleet ranges from Embraer E170 and E 190 regional jets to narrow-bodied Boeing 737s and wide-bodied Boeing 767-300ER and 777-200 aircraft.
