Air Zimbabwe, Kenya Airways sign security deal

AIR Zimbabwe and Kenya Airways have signed an agreement that will allow flights to be diverted to Zimbabwe in case of emergency in Nairobi.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Infrastructural Development, Pattison Mbiriri made the announcement on Thursday in Masvingo.

Mbiriri, however, did not say what type of emergency is envisaged.

He was attending the Air Traffic Controllers Day.

Mbiriri said the agreement is proof that Zimbabwe’s airports are of international standards.

He also announced that Zimbabwe will soon be a hive of activity as many airlines are expected to be flying into the country from next year.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently announced that it will start flights to Harare from February 2012.
